Announcements, News and Help Required
The Probus Trip to Yarrawonga
Graeme Fleet invited us to register our interest for this trip on 6 October.
Great value and much to see and enjoy.
Trivia Night – 8 November
This event will benefit the Mark West Foundation. Bring along family and friends and book a table of eight. More details to follow from Yannick.
The Night will include a Wine Raffle so we are asking Club members to donate a bottle or two before the event.
Our Fundraising Committee will start collecting donations at our next meeting so please feel free to bring along your donation.
It's nearly Geelong Show Time!....and we need volunteers!
If you are free on October 12th between 9:30am and 1pm, come along to the Geelong Show Clean Up Day!
Even if we have sufficient numbers for the actual clean up, it gives you a chance to see “the before” and if you are a new member, you can see what goes where before the Show starts in earnest
Clean Up Days are used to make sure the premises are spick and span before the show begins. So bring gloves and a bit of elbow grease and get cleaning!
If you are unable to get on to Clubrunner, please do not hesitate to contact Yannick.
Geelong Show – 17,18 & 19 October
The roster is available on Club Runner and a roster showing dates and times will also be available at the Club meetings.
Please put this one in your diaries. We need all hands on deck as we can only give away to our chosen charitable causes that which we make and we make most from this event.
This year with every shift (there are 4 shifts each day) there will be a Shift Supervisor and a First Aider.
The idea is to relieve Adrian and John from having to be across every aspect of the operation – financial, operations and supply – throughout the entire Show.
Another new role is that of The Go-fer who will need to be available outside the Show Grounds to source and bring in supplies as needed.
Legacy Badges sales
Thanks to the efforts of David Beretta, Adrian Innes and others, $1720.00 was raised for the work of Legacy from recent badge sales.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)
Kris Adam advised that our Club has 3 young people to attend the RYLA program which provides personal development training.

Our Club will be sponsoring an applicant to this summer school program (previously known as the National Science Summer School) which takes place in Brisbane and Canberra and which exists to expose Year 11 students going into Year 12 considering a career in science, engineering and related disciplines to major scientific institutions and researchers.
Public Relations Committee Report
Gary Newton reported that the Club will producing a special 50th anniversary bumper sticker in December.
A new Club shirt design and logo is being offered for consideration as is the concept of distributing Club notices via mobile phones as an addition (or alternative) to emails.

Lift The Lid – 1 October
Greg Ross, ambassador for mental health awareness and Australian T.V. legend, is our guest speaker on the subject of mental health for our 1 October meeting.
The overseas Rotary Exchange students have adopted this project as the one they will support and they will be attending the meeting. Kris Adam, who is a member of the District Youth Exchange Committee is looking for accommodation for 14 students and 4 Rotarian committee members for that night. See Kris if you can assist.
