Peter Gillham was our chair for the evening's meeting.

Member Talk - David Beretta
David Beretta has Italian and Welsh heritage and was born in Seymour and moved to Geelong where the family settled at Whittington.
David as a plumber worked on many significant building projects around Geelong.
David was a rower, scuba diver and the family become very much involved in waterskiing....water has always been prominent in the Beretta clan.
Yachting and equestrian activities have also been part of the Beretta family broad range of activities.
Judging waterskiing in Columbia was quite an experience.
David has been a member of our Club for 48 years and was a pioneer of the Hamburger Stand.
David has worked on Rotary overseas FAIM trips and in his presidential year had a challenging time with Club finances due to a defaulting treasurer.

News from the North
Graham Hare, a past president of our Club, left us in mid 2010 and travelled about mainly in Queensland.
Due to Melva's health, they spent some time in Lauriton on the north coast of New South Wales and decided to settle there.
Last year, they got back on the road after selling their house and travelling to Queensland and in March they will take the caravan across to the West and around the top and back to Lauriton.
Graham's Rotary club in one of a group around Port Macquarie and has hosted a District Conference.
It was great to hear from Graham about Rotary beyond Geelong.

Warren's Words of Wisdom

The Rotary Club Geelong have a project in Popendetta in PNG.  Sometime in the new Rotary year, they will need the services of a plumber to finalise the project.
This request has gone out to all the International Chairs in Groups 9 & 10, so there could be a few people put their hands up for the job. At this stage, it is not clear if there will be any assistance with passage, that is something to be confirmed.
The dates are unknown, however, it will not be until after 1st July 2018.
Anyone who knows of a plumber who may like to take part in an international community project, please let Warren know their details and Warren will put them in touch with the person at the Rotary Club of Geelong managing the project.

Members On The Mend

We all send Terry Thornton our very best wishes after her stint in hospital.

Money Matters

Michael Carroll asked that we tend legal tender as we are tending to toss in other than the coin of the realm (or at least this realm).

Progressive Dinner

We'll be munching on the move on 12 May and the information will come via Whoozin as well as on paper.

Christ Church Meals
In addition to providing meals, the group accepts donations of clothes, shoes and toys for distribution to those in need.

Reporting Make Ups

Make ups for the preceding month will be reported in the Bulletin in the second week of the following month....that is, the make ups for February which will be listed in the Bulletin in the second week of March.

Entertainment Books
Graeme Fleet tells us the Entertainment Books are a great fundraiser and we will be promoting this as a membership growth mechanism.

Member Matters

We have a whole lot of new members in the system and we look forward to welcoming them to the friendship and service opportunities which our Club offers.
