Happy New Year
President David Sykes welcomed us all back to our first meeting of the year.
Ballarat South Raffle Ticket Sales Report
Robert Wheeler advised that we have made over $4,000.00 in raffle ticket sales so far with final days of sales coming up.
Bring back your butts and money (and any unsold tickets) to the Club's meeting on 6 January
Robert gave us a breakdown of the $ per hour income from ticket sales and there is ongoing thought as to how the sales in future years might be arranged to the best advantage of our Club in terms of hours spent for funds received.
Once again, our thanks go out to James Dunlop and Robert for their stewardship of this very significant fundraising activity and thanks to all the Club members, family and friends who have devoted their time to ticket sales.
Shower The People
Not only is this the title of a great song from James Taylor, but also a lead in to an exciting community service project for Rotary in Geelong
The launch of the fundraising for a Homeless Shower Truck for the Geelong region will take place at our Club meeting on 23 January.
Our Club's Youth Service Committee chair Kris Adam announced that our aim is to raise the funds to purchase a Shower Truck through One Voice to aid the homeless in the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula.
Currently a bus comes to Geelong on an irregular basis and after negotiations with One Voice, they are very keen for Geelong to have its own facility.
The launch will be held at The Hub, McKillop Street, East Geelong on Tuesday January 23rd, 2018 from 6pm.
The new Shower Truck ordered for Adelaide will be present for inspection and more information about the project will be provided by the Director of One Voice, Josh Wilkins.
Kris and Sue Hill (chair of our Club's Fundraising Committee will demonstrate the Power of Shower and The Soap of Hope on a Rope (RDU merchandising soap in the shape of the Rotary symbol) will be available for purchase
Please invite family and friends, work colleagues and any others who might be interested in and who might be able to assist with funding and fundraising along and book in via Whoozin.
Hamburger Stand - 19, 20 & 21 January - Geelong Camping & Caravan Show
Please contact John Birrell or Adrian Innes if you can assist.
It will be an opportunity to boost our charitable funds and, as always, a great fellowship event as was last weekend at the Showgrounds.
