Last Week's Program

Peter Funston was our chair for our first Club meeting of calendar 2020.
We welcome Satbir back from his leave of absence and it was great to have Terry “on deck” again.
President Tony directed us to his recent email concerning options for members to provide financial assistance to those who are suffering in the dreadful bushfires currently engulfing Kangaroo Island, north-east Victoria, east Gippsland and the south coast of New South Wales.
Yannick advised that planning is in hand to liaise with a club in this area to provide direct assistance and to have a friendship trip to help boost their local economy.

Last Week's Activity – Committee Meetings
Members met in their committees to review projects for the Rotary year to date and to plan for the remainder.

Our Fifty Years Celebration – Sunday 23 February 2020
This is the date to gather with the members, past members and friends of The Rotary Club of Geelong East in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the club.
That is two days after our actual Charter Anniversary and is the date of Rotary International's birthday.
The venue is The Range at Curlewis Golf Club at 12.00 pm and tickets are $50.00 per head.
Bookings close on 14 February and we are encouraged to book early using the information which will be provided in the email we will shortly receive.
If you have contact details for past members, please provide such to Liz Sykes as soon as possible.

The Sardinia Trip
Warren encouraged members to consider this (details of which appear in the last Bulletin) and bookings close 30 January for the trip in June.
Warren can supply the full brochure and itinerary to those interested.

Bangers at Bunnings
Our next opportunity to feed the masses at Bunnings will be 12 April at the Waurn Ponds store. Details will be provided.

Geelong Showgrounds - Vintage Rally - 11 & 12 January
We catered from our barbeque trailer under the windmill over the 2 days and, as Adrian reported, the results were exceptionally good with a profit of around $3,800.00.
Thanks to all who helped out and made it such a great fundraiser.

Ballarat South Raffle Report
James Dunlop reported that we have only 21 books of tickets left to sell of our original allocation of 300.
Members are asked to bring to next week’s meeting or the following week the stubs from the tickets they have sold or bought as James needs to return all to Ballarat South in the first few days of February.

Our 21 January meeting - Australia Day Dress Up Night
This will be our Australia Day Dress Up Night so come along and join in the fun.
There will be prizes for best dressed Aussie outfit and best dressed table.
Scott Smith from Newcomb Football Club will be our guest speaker. This will also be an opportunity to give Scott the many cheques we have for his club and for our members to see our logos on their football jumpers and ball.
