Vocational Visit and Pride and Professionalism Award
A number of Rotarians including Honorary Member Pam Mott attended the presentation of the Club’s Pride & Professionalism Award to the Andrew Love Cancer Centre (“ALCC”) last Thursday.
We were made very welcome and met with members of the medical, nursing and administrative staff who work so hard with the invaluable support of many volunteers to make this facility one of the very best providers of cancer services in Australia and indeed in the world.
A number of our members who have experienced first-hand the exemplary level of care and support which the Andrew Love Cancer Centre provides nominated the ALCC for the award.
We were welcomed by Associate Professor Philip Campbell, the Director of Cancer Services head of medical oncology.
Our Club’s Vocational Service Committee, Laurent Franklin, outlined the principles behind our Pride and Professionalism Award.
Shane Brasier who is the Operations Manager accepted the award for the radiotherapy division which was presented by Jenny Acopian and Dr.Madhu Singh accepted the award on behalf of the medical oncology section of the ALCC from Stan Deans.
Rotarians were then able to take a tour of the facility with Fiona Chipperfield and her colleague Janine.
Apart from recognizing the great work of the ALCC, it was an opportunity to demonstrate our Club’s community credentials and perhaps gain a new member or two?
